- low angle - a shot from a camera angle positioned low on the vertical axis, anywhere below the eye line, looking up, this makes the subject look strong
- high angle - a cinematic technique where the camera looks down on the subject from a high angle, this can make the subject seem weak or powerless
- canted angle - an angle deliberately slanted to one side to portray unease, disorientation, frantic or desperate action, intoxication and madness
- aerial shots - a shot taken from an elevated vantage point
- elaborate camera movement such as tracks - any shot where the camera follows backward, forward or moves alongside the subject being recorded
- steadicam - a mount for cameras that mechanically isolates the operator's movement, allowing for a smooth shot
- crane shots - a shot taken by a camera from a moving crane or jib
- hand-held camera - a shot taken by a camera that is held by someone without a mount of any kind. This often results in a shaky image, making it seem more home-made
