1960's Cover October 1966
5 things I know about 1960's attitude
- Sexism
- Racism
- Homophobia
- Nationalism
- Worried about war
Feminism/ Gender
- Respectful low-angle close-up shot of the queen looking serious, the biggest photo proves that she is more important than the photo of her husband.
- Picture of women in lingerie, objectification of women, shows progression in terms of the contraceptive pill and attitude.
- Less important view of the queens husband, anti-feminist because feminism is about equality.
- When the queen married her husband, they made sure he was given the title Duke instead of King so the public would know that the Queen was the ruler. This shows that Britain was quite forward-thinking about feminism because we have a female ruler.
Racism
- The article entitled "Spain can have the apes" is an example of racism.

- It's an example of blatant racism because they said that the dark skinned Spanish are apes and should leave.
- The article about Russian spies is an example of subtle racism because they are identifying the Russians as a threat to England. This is because they chose communism instead of capitalism and America and England don't agree.
